Oh gosh, I used to be exactly the same, except for being unable to pronounce “ga” in Gabrielle rather than s. Here are a few things that worked for me: - I found that when I was stuck for air, it was easier for me to say my name after I used a looongish sentence like “My name? Oh well, that’s Gabrielle”. Worst case scenario? “I’m sorry, I have a bit of a stammer so it’s sometimes hard for me to pronounce this word;” - When I wasn’t out of breath and the long sentence didn’t work, I started pronouncing it differently. Rather than GAbrielle, I’d pronounce it quickly as “Kauhbrielle” - often people would correct me saying something like “Oh, like Gabrielle” and I’d say yup! Like that! - Swimming !! Helped !!! With my stammer soooo much !! I had similar breathing issues and by going to the swimming pool as much as possible I was able to do tons of breathing exercises that really improved my speech (and perhaps that’s why it got worse again during covid but now I’m a lot better) I sometimes do get stuck on my name, but learning to laugh it off has taken off a lot of the shame attached to it. I stammered my name to my best friend when we first met, we smile about me lying that I ‘forgot’ my name, some people made fun of me because of my name stammering and I am happy to not have them in my life 💛 (A lot of the people who give weird looks don’t even remember tbh.) If you need someone to talk to don’t hesitate to private message me:) And good luck! Things get better!
