On leaving gatherings

On leaving gatherings Do you guys ever find yourself going to social gatherings with the best intentions but end up staying longer than you'd really like because you're worried about having to say proper farewells if you leave early? This happens a lot to me and it happened again today and left me very frustated. I just kept on telling myself that staying longer was a good thing while in reality I was just standing alone in the corner without really socializing that much either.
