Just thought I'd say, even if you could afford speech therapy, it doesn't mean you would've overcame your stutter. I was in therapy almost my entire life (23M) and I still stutter pretty bad, although I have the occasional good day. Don't blame your stutter on your parents or your financial situation, everyone is born with conditions, you and I happen to be born with a stutter. It's something you have to come to terms with if you ever want to overcome something. I'd highly recommend reading the book life on delay by John Hendrickson. He's a very famous journalist that has a very very severe stutter, but is still very successful in a field where communication is extremely important.
