To me DBS and TMS are overkill for a problem that could be solved much more easily. Stuttering is a neurological problem that could be greatly mitigated by a speech prosthetic such as the Edinburgh Masker or Delayed Auditory Feedback. Just as bad vision or bad hearing are mitigated by prosthetics (eye glasses or hearing aids) the same holds for stuttering. It has helped me, my 2 sons and many others. It is an overlooked solution that should be the standard treatment for stuttering.
