I'm not being negative or pessimistic. I am being a realist. I openly live and don't hide or disguise my stutter which i have had since childhood. I am almost 40yrs old. A lot of the stutterers i see posting on this forum are absolutely delusional. And their advice is terrible especially when dealing with youth who are really suffering because of their stutter. Acknowledging this disability of ours and doing our best to live with it openly is the best advice we can give. Giving bullshit false hope to youth that somehow you can cure yourself with hardwork and dedication and using rare examples as proof is setting people up for worse mental health and anxiety/depression when they inevitably fail to overcome their stutter. Also "carefully hiding" your stutter is not dealing or living with anything. Its direspectful to yourself as a human being and is a terrible way to live your life. I lived that way for 15yrs.. you become a fake shell of a person having to change your words or true thoughts because hiding your stutter is whats most important. That is no way to live.
