Understanding the reason you started is impossible to know. There is no good answer to ''why you?'' But that question feels like it's from a defeated and helpless place. You are neither. It is not your fault that you stutter, but it is your responsibility as an adult to fix it (assuming that you wish to). So I would not worry about ''why me?'' And instead focus on, ''what can I do today that will make me a more fluent speaker tomorrow?'' And do as much work as you possibly can.
