I too, primarily have blocks in my speech where it looks like I'm trying to say something, and takes a few seconds to come out. Worst thing about my blocks is that it happens on my name! Why does it always have to be on my name?! I've distanced myself from a lot of social situations from my entire life and I've just now taken new steps to try and correct it. I started speech therapy just a few months ago, and so far it seems to be working. * In speech therapy they will teach you fluency shaping tools to help deal with moments of stuttering. (Easy onset, light contact, and pausing are helpful for me) * Also a big part of speech therapy is learning to accept your stutter, and desensitize yourself from negative thoughts/feelings. * Have you thought about disclosing your stutter to people you speak with? Be like, "oh I stutter, its no big deal". This may put you at ease, and may actually make you stutter less. * Check and see if there are NSA meetings nearby. This is a great place to practice because everyone stutters and if you mess up it's no big deal. * I also try to do things that may increase confidence, improve health, and relieve anxiety. (going to the gym, taking vitamins, eating healthy, good sleep, meditation, and thinking positive)
