Yep, terrible combination, suffering myself. You probably won't get a perfect therapist there, what helped me was seeing stuttering as a result of my mental state, this is why learning the mechanics of fluent speech wasn't necessary, as I already knew I know how to produce fluent speech. It's just in some situations I couldn't. And that was purely psychological. So I benefited from psychotherapy enough to understand what that might be. Changing your mindset, well that's harder. But I notice that what works for social anxiety usually works for stuttering too, If I get less anxious I stutter less. And for the anxiety nothing works better than exposure. At least for me.
