Yes, we express ourselves in writing. We acquire massive vocabularies to allow us to substitute words; but it allows us to be great writers. It's not enough of compensation though because when a stutterer opens his mouth, all the written intellect goes out the door and they're again perceived as dumb. It has to be one of the saddest handicaps.
