While firing you for something like this is most likely illegal in the US, a word of caution. You weren't very clear on whether or not it was explicit that they fired you *specifically* for stuttering. If the customer lied about some shit and you never gave your side of the story, the company may not be in the wrong. However, assuming it was explicit that they fired you for stuttering, then yes, you should definitely seek legal counsel.
