Hi. I don’t know you of course but I can fully appreciate what you’re going through! At 40 years old I only started going to speech therapy. I just got off the phone with my previous boss in a big company where I thought honesty about stuttering was taboo but was extremely compassionate and understanding about my stutter which she didn’t know I had. But I got it off my chest and I feel much lighter. The shame has been my own doing. If you feel shame then you are self reflecting and you have a great personality I’m sure. I’ve been going to group therapy as well which has definitely helped a lot even if I didn’t really want to do it and it’s still so hard going there still but I know it’s helping me. All I can say is you’re not alone and that people don’t judge us as much as we think. Your honesty is your power and I’ve learned that stuttering is also the biggest gift (whilst being terrible of course). It’s your journey of course and all I can say is go ahead with the therapy if you can! Your potential is there, waiting in the wings. It’s ready for you. Good luck !!
