Absolutely. I am a speech therapist and I have a stutter. There is a long history of speech pathologists / therapists who stutter. Some of the hosts of the Stutter Talk Podcast are speech pathologist who stutter. Certainly, having a stutter doesn’t necessarily mean that someone would make a good speech pathologist, but your experience could be an asset. It also requires you to be a good problem solver and very empathetic. Also bear in mind that speech pathologists tend so see a wide range of communication disorders - not just stuttering by any means. As long as you are an effective communicator, there is no reason that stuttering should prevent you pursuing this career. Ask your therapist about the steps you could take to become a speech pathologist. I’d be happy to help you with applications if you want advice applying to a speech pathology degree. Good luck! :)
