I was in a very satisfying relationship for almost two years. (Ultimately broke up for non-stutter related reasons) She was very patient and very supportive of my speech problems and said it never bothered her. We got along in so many ways and had so much in common, the stutter never created any problems for us. Hell, she helped me find a speech pathologist and attended a few sessions with me. I’m aware I’m very lucky in this regard, but define yourself by who you are as a person, not your stutter. If anyone does make fun of you for it in a romantic sense, they’re clearly not worth your time. As my therapist would say “fuck ‘em.” I let people that I’m dating or wanting to date know about my stutter ahead of time and just kind of seeing how they react. I don’t have time for people who are just going to be rude.
