At 77f I’m still searching for that pot of gold. I never had speech therapy but have had psychotherapy which revealed the probable psychological cause, childhood abuse preventing verbally expressing my feelings. Because there are many neurophysiological issues involved in stuttering, I resigned myself to this condition. Recently though, I’m open to the possibility that there might be something I could do. I’m investing the Lee Lovett program and the Maguire breath method. I’ve been a patient of Dr. Gerald Maguire as well. The medication he suggested had no benefit, however he recommends a multi phase approach including speech therapy techniques. At 77, I haven’t given up yet. Neither should any of you.
