What you said really resonates with me because I am going through the exact same thing. I also started stuttering in 2022 and thought it was related to my anxiety, even though I have had anxiety and mental health issues for as long as I can remember. I also feel tension in my face and experience blocks when I try to speak. For about a month now it has gotten much worse and it even happens when I practice speaking alone. The more I try to focus on it to stop it, the worse it gets. A few days ago I asked my psychiatrist for help. She didn’t offer any support and just told me to call the local speech therapist. I tried to contact them and there is a waiting list of several years with no guarantee of getting an appointment. The other speech therapists nearby either don’t take adults, are not taking new clients, or only take emergencies. I feel completely helpless. I really hope you will find professionals who can help you, at least to understand the exact cause. It is extremely frustrating to start stuttering later in life when you know how to speak normally. Even if anxiety is not the only cause, it definitely makes the stuttering much worse.
