It's not their life it's yours. Family will mean well can't change them. My parents used to blame themselves so it must be different from this. There are things you can try but not everything works for everyone and for some people nothing really sticks. The #1 thing that helped my acceptance was practicing how to say "I have a speech impediment." You can start with hey or excuse me, pardon to drumroll it out. I've found it makes people realize I have a vocabulary and makes them worry they made fun of a stroke survivor or something. People don't think of this as a worthy disability so unfortunately I don't feel badly for making them feel worse. Every day when you are struggling imagine how many of the users here are stuttering to. Read posts here and try the discord! :)
