Working with an SLP who can address the fear of looking like a fool will make a big difference in your journey. As long as you continue to fear looking like a fool, you will pretty much always enter speaking situations with that fear, which will increase your physiological stress response, resulting in more physical tension, more difficulty thinking rationally (e.g. more difficulty changing stuttering behaviors and unhelpful thoughts). Those negative past experiences are strongly influencing your present experiences too. When you're able to reduce the intensity of the negative memories that remain about the past experiences, it will also help you feel less fear and more confidence, and help communicate with more ease. It's awesome that you've decided to go back to school for something that you love! I have 100% faith that you can do it and that you can achieve whatever goals you want regardless of your stutter! You've totally got this!
