When my stutter was severe I worked as an admin assistant in local government. It was mostly data entry, dealing with correspondence, that sort of thing. I didn't really have to answer the phone as that was for the next grade, but some colleagues got annoyed that I wouldn't answer when they weren't available. I was a few years into the job before I actually answered a phone, and that was reluctantly, but my speech had improved a bit by then.
