Airflow Technique against blocks TO THE ADMINS: THIS IS NOT A POST ABOUT A CURE The most severe stuttering form is blocks at the beginning of a sentence.It happens mostly by vocals, b, m, p. I believe, the most effective technique to overcome this is airflow technique. Because: 1. It reminds you to inhale before speech. 2. It starts the air motion without problem. 3. It makes you open the mouth before speech. 4. It eliminates the contraction of vocal cords. 5. It provides fluency free of artifical speech techniques such as prolongation or melody. How to apply it: 1. Believe that you can express yourself clearly. 2. Build a meaningfull sentence. 3. Inhale from mouth about 50% of your lung capacity. 4. Make a 1 second natural exhale from the mouth without the intention of saying a word, but only natural exhale. 5. Combine the flowing air to sound and make a clear entrance to the sentence by using your lip, tongue and jaw. 6. Go on the sentence without having a break in air motion and sound production. 7. Stop after 6 seconds and return to point 3. Note1: If the first word is a one syllable word, put a comma after it to make a short break and go on. I,,,, come from... Note2: If your BBT value is instantly less than 15 seconds, make a longer natural exhale in point 4. Check my posts about BBT. Note 3: Your articulation and your speed must be perfect to use it. As long as you apply it perfectly and become fluent, you will gain self-confidence and need it less.
