I found that my level of preparedness for a situation is often directly proportional to my stuttering EXCEPT if i am very passionate about the topic. During regular conversation with people in daily life situations, (groceries, fuelling car, walk in the park) i will stutter a lot as i am in a situation that is "out of control" as far as my mental preparedness. Breathing exercises have helped significantly to help my overall anxiety, which in turn helps me communicate clearer. Its also important to be open to allowing your body to communicate to you. As humans, we develop coping strategies to push stress off to the side. Some can do that. I cannot. If i don't deal with the stress, it *will* come out somehow. Oft times it comes out as stuttering. I deal with facial and small body ticks as well. Sorry, Im kinda all over the place here. Sleep makes a huge difference on things. The better rested i am, the more in control of my mind and body I am. Best of luck!
