Talking on the phone is always rough for me. I still stutter when talking in person, but on the phone it’s like my stutter kicks in overdrive. The only real advice I can give is try to work around troubled words? Like for instance at sit down restaurant if I’m ordering something that includes a word I can’t say, let’s take Shrimp Alfredo for example. I’ll point to the item on the menu and say ‘I’ll have the Alfredo.’ Most of the time they’ll connect the dots and ask ‘shrimp’ to verify. Now in fast food / drive through, it’s a little more challenging. I usually stick to numbers, and never bother asking them to make it a certain way. Because with my stutter, if I ask them for no pickles on a burger, I’m likely to just get just two buns at the window.
