I think, for some of us, these tips can be very helpful. If you ever feel anxiety due to stuttering, or the pressure is too high to say something in a feared situation (or specific word). Tryout these trauma strategies: **Grounding Techniques:** Bring your focus back to the present moment when arise * **5-4-3-2-1 Technique:** Name 5 things you can see, 4 things you can touch, 3 things you can hear, 2 things you can smell, and 1 thing you can taste * **Slow deep Breathing:** to calm your nervous system **Mindfulness:** Staying in the present and reducing anxiety * **Meditation** * **Body Scan:** Focus on each part of your body top-down and then gently release the tension **Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT):** Identifying and improving negative thoughts * **Cognitive Restructuring:** Identify distorted thoughts and reframe them with more balanced perspectives * **Behavioral Activation:** Engage in positive activities to counteract negative emotions **Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)** **Visualizing a safe place** **Exposure** Gradually exposing yourself to situations or memories that trigger anxiety (in real life or by visualizing) **Journaling:** Writing about your thoughts and feelings to properly process your emotions * "Today, I felt..." * "A challenging moment was..." * "What I'm grateful for today is..." **Affirmations:** Be gentle with yourself * "I am enough" * "I deserve love and respect" * "I am more than my stutter"
