I stutter and want a job (advice please) Hey, I am new here and would like to get some advise from PWS with a job or someone who can give me advice. Background: From the age of 5 I stutter, especially repeating letters and blocks. My stuttering is mild (could hide it well in the past), but since my higher education it has deteriorated. During a presentation I really stuttered bad (blocks) and got from my audience an uncomfortable reaction, which lead that I am now "traumatized" by that experience and my stuttering has become worse in public. I also never stuttered when saying my name, but since this summer I stuttered when I said my name and the person started laughing so now I am afraid to say my name. Problem: July 2023 I graduated from a master's degree in Biomedical Sciences. In September 2023 I started a teacher course, but I kept it up until October 2023 because it gave me a lot of stress because of the many speaking situations and my stuttering deteriorated. After I stopped, I intended to look for a job, but until this day I don't have a job, because every time I have a bad experience with stuttering I pull back and get into a sad/depressed/low-confidence period. I really want a job, but I am so afraid of being rejected because communication in biomedical sciences is very important. The problem is I do not want to indicate that I was at home for a year because I was struggling with my stuttering mentally. How can I explain the gap in my CV in a subtle way? + Any tips to tackle stuttering during intervieiws and in the workplace? Thank you in advance!
