People see it as a personal flaw of the stutterer and therefore make fun of them for it. I feel like people don’t see stuttering as a condition separate from the sufferer, unlike other conditions like being blind or having cancer. It’s like how stuttering characters in media are portrayed as cowardly and weak. It’s seen as a personal flaw for some reason, rather than a condition that people happen to have.
