Blegh, a part of my soul dies any time someone recommends this to me. I did watch it and to be fair it's a good film which illustrates the frustrations and experiences of a stutterer, but don't expect any revelations if you've already been through several speech therapists and popular techniques. What bugs me is how it the film dusts its hands off and yells "case closed!" after Bertie boy delivers his radio message successfully, with just a footnote about how he continued to work with the guy who helped him. Did his family stop being jerks? Could he order what he wanted from a restaurant menu now? Did he have enjoyable chats on the yellow phone with the prime minister? This isn't enough closure, Mr Director! Most of us can already read a rehearsed two-minute speech in a slow and monotone fashion! It's accurate, it's tragic, it's cute, but like most stutter-related things I'm corralled into sitting through my main reaction is "no shit".
