Day-to-day stuttering annoyances When non-stutterers imagine what stuttering must be like, they tend to "think big" - difficulties giving presentations, speeches, etc. But for me, the most frustrating parts of stuttering are the minor, everyday occurrences. I thought it would be interesting to create an index, if you will, of specific day-to-day "rough patches" of dysfluency. Examples: I'm in school, and sometimes I'll stress for HOURS before attendance is called because I can't say "Here". Also, saying "Thank you" to people who hold doors open, crossing guards, people who compliment you, etc. Another common one is introducing yourself ("Hah, did you forget your NAME?!" Um, seriously? What, do you think I have dementia or something?). I'm curious - does anyone else have similar insignificant yet repetitive problem spots?
