I, Claudius was one that was recommended to me but I haven't read it yet. There are a few books and short stories with stuttering side characters, but they're all portrayed as awkward or comedic. I actually just last week read an old book that's kind of obscure called Unspeakable, or Life and Adventures of a Stammerer. The plot was pretty melodramatic, and some parts were silly (he thought he "caught" his stutter from someone else), but the main character's struggle with stuttering really resonated with me and actually made me pretty emotional at certain parts. If you can get through it, or skim, until halfway to two thirds through, there's a lot about his attempts to find work, talk to people/girls, find cures, and feelings about stuttering that I could really identify with. You can read it online. https://books.google.com/books/about/The_Unspeakable.html?id=LSMCAAAAQAAJ&printsec=frontcover&source=kp_read_button&hl=en&newbks=1&newbks_redir=0&gboemv=1#v=onepage&q&f=false
