I don’t mean to speak for anyone else but I had an experience that maybe was similar to the OP. Prior to speech therapy I had a stutter (blocking). But I was willfully ignorant to the mental side. I’d never ‘googled’ stuttering or anything like that in my first 27 years of life. My first job I ever held was answering phones. I was able to do that because I was blissfully ignorant to the mental side of stuttering and didn’t give it a second thought. I started speech therapy at 27 and it was only then I was made aware of my limitations and every secondary behaviour and every single ‘sound’ I block on. It was the worst thing I ever did. I went from doing things that came naturally to then second guessing everything. Right now I’m lucky to get out a “hello” on the phone. I believe there is such a thing as becoming too self aware,
