Do I stutter, or is this something else entirely? Hi I stumbled over this sub when I was trying to figure some of this out. I'm not sure if I'm actually stuttering, if it's some other disorder, or if it's a combination, but it seems to be exactly like stuttering from what I read except for a few things. It seems to happen only when I'm tired and especially if I'm hungry aswell. It's especially triggered by reading out loud but the weird thing is that it happens when reading silently aswell, although not as intense. But then it seems more like a tick since I'm not talking. However, the sensation is exactly the same, muscle jerks in the talky bits and "brain lag" if that makes sense? Like my mind gets turned off and on again. It gets weirder. On two occations in my life i have been so tired from sleep deprivation that i get these stutters/ticks without reading OR talking, and when that happens it's sometimes so intense that my whole body just fails for a fraction of a second. The last time was almost two years ago. I was in Africa for work and had just arrived that day during the morning. In the afternoon I was very sleep deprived because of the flight and I hadn't been able to sleep properly in about 48hrs. It has NEVER been as intense as it was that day. Again, it was the exact same sensation but no apparent trigger like talking or reading, the difference now was intensity and frequency. The ticks/stutters happened every couple of minutes and were so bad that whenever I got one standing up, I would often find myself on my hands and knees or about to fall down. This seemed more like epilepsy since now it was literally making me fall over every couple of minutes only to "wake up" recovering a fall if I'm not already on the ground. Eventually my sergeant ordered me to sleep after she saw me almost fall over in the dining hall. I have no memory of having this condition as a child but I think it started somewhere in my early teens. I know i should probably see a doctor instead of posting here about it but I'm mostly curious if anyone here can relate, and this doesn't seem like the right time to go use healthcare resources because honestly it's not that bad. I only stutter when I'm tired or reading out loud, and I only get these "seizures" very rarely when I'm STUPIDLY tired and shouldn't even operate an electric toothbrush. Thoughts? Thank you for reading. :) Sorry if it's a bit long.
