Hey, fellow stutterer here, though I admit mine is mild. I've been someone who had to answer phones, give announcements, and all that jazz. I do it regularly. Do you find you can be fluent when talking to yourself, or alone? If so, and if you ever want to try an announcement again.. do everything you can to trick your brain into thinking you're not where you are. I would turn my back to the store, get comfortable by leaning on something, hold the phone away from my ear and head but with the speaking end towards my mouth, cross my arms and basically put myself anywhere but there/ It also helped to develop a rhythm or a singsong type of voice for the script - your brain uses slightly different areas for singing and group speech than normal speech and stutterers are less likely to actually stutter when singing or speaking in unison in a group. You are worthy of being heard and the things you have to say are important. A stutter does not make you. I hope you can find a therapist soon as I do think they can really help with mental health. <3
