Moving forward As my internship for the summer comes to an end, I recently had a meeting with my COO about potential opportunities outside of the company I’m working at. He asked me what I wanted to do after, and I honestly told him that I’d love to do sales. I love talking to people, it just takes me a little longer than others. He said that “If that is what you wanna do, then I don’t see your stuttering holding you back. You have a great personality and people love you. A question a interviewer might ask you is, ‘what steps/actions are you doing to help increase fluency’”. (Got that covered, done hundreds of presentations, started a routine where I practice, etc) “use it to build your story to sell yourself”. It took tons of people telling me not to let my stuttering hold me back from things. I never listened. Today changed it all. I can’t explain the weight that has been lifted off my shoulders allowing me to breath again. Just wanted to share. :)
