Adults here, how do you meet people?

Adults here, how do you meet people? I’m not talking about those in college or school(in person ofc), but people with 9-5 jobs working full time. How do you guys actually meet people besides at your job? I have an incredibly small (dysfunctional) family and most of my friends moved after college and making friends has been nothing short of difficult as I feel I often have nothing in common with most people. I often don’t really have the money to go out either, and traveling into the city is super expensive for me. I feel super stuck and don’t really know how to get out of this rut honestly
