I have an older family member who stutters similarly to me. I may be wrong, but, in my opinion, stuttering is not genetic. I think stuttering comes with a unique state of mind; a brain that thinks excessively, or with too many thoughts at once. This overthinking causes you to stutter. This is just my personal unproven theory on stuttering. I just wanted to say that if you have other family members who stutter, its the unique state of mind, not the stuttering, that is genetic. My family member seems to work around the stutter by tapping or substituting words. However, I think these kind of techniques allow the stutter to limit your potential and control you. A few times, I have achieved certain blank, relaxed mindset and been able to breifly speak perfectly fluently. I may be completely wrong, but I strongly believe that the mind, not the stutter, is genetic. Work around the mind, not the stutter. Control it, don't let it control you.
