Getting a job Ok so this post has 2 main purposes/questions... 1: what jobs/careers are good/easy for a stutterer? 2: do you all disclose during an interview that you have a stutter (or any other disorders or conditions)? Or do you wait until after you’ve been hired? ................................................. Context: I have a stutter (along with multiple other disorders, but in many ways I feel like my stutter is the main issue... ordering fast food is a daily nightmare for me haha). My work history is pretty bare tbh. I’ve had trouble getting hired. I can’t prove it was because of my stutter, but I’m *pretty sure* it’s because of my stutter. The jobs I have had have been under the table, physical labor type of jobs. It’s not that I’m incapable or whatever. I did pretty well in school. I have an associates degree. Im sure I could excel at lots of jobs probably, if dealing with people isn’t a constant requirement. But work where I don’t have to interact with people a lot would be great. Ps.... Blocking is the type of stutter I deal with the most I think, which IMO is one of the hardest to deal with.
