Full disclosure: I’m not a doctor, so please take this at well-meaning bro science. This may be a stretch, but alcohol affects the GABA neurotransmitter by binding to the neurotransmitters and emulating it’s affects while slowing the reuptake. GABA, in turn, is a dopamine inhibitor, and some studies have linked dopamine to studying. It’s worth noting that alcohol also releases serotonin and some dopamine. *Theoretically* it’s possible that the extra GABA in your brain the during the night / following day before it’s all reabsorbed is affecting your dopamine levels and impacting your stutter. I know I’ve noticed that if I have a drink my stammer gets better, but there’s way too many factors that could be involve to point to one. Have you tried taking out various parts of that ritual to see what affect there is?
