Hi! I’ve noticed that it really depends on the country. I come from the EU (Central European part) and in my country you need to take a so called “communication exam” before being able to enroll in the SLP program. If you show any signs of any speech or language disorders, you will be denied enrollment. On the other hand if you take a look at the SLP subreddit, which is heavily dominated by American SLP’s, you’ll notice that a lot of them have some type of afore mentioned disorders, e.g. stuttering, articulation disorders etc. So in conclusion, I’d say it depends on the country. I know here it isn’t doable, but we do have a girl studying SLP with a cochlear implant.
