>And I feel like I everyone who stutters is “doing their best” all the time, at least in my case. I wasn't. For a long time I didn't. Is there something more you can / should be doing? Doing more for yourself is one way to build confidence. If you're doing your best, then recognize that. That's no small feat. I dislike the tool analogy. All of your analogies are external. Your disfluency is very much a part of you. We're talking about a disability. People adapt and overcome all sorts of disabilities. *It's not easy.* And it never (rarely) achieves the same level of capability as someone without a disability. But that doesn't prohibit people from achieving more and being confident in their abilities. Fluency is achievable for many. Greater fluency is achievable for most. Even if you've tried and tried again. Don't stop trying. It's the effort that equates to success.
