Other accommodation options include written forms of communication instead of oral whenever possible (such as IMs and emails instead of phone calls). I use these textual methods during work as much as is practical. For situations where it’s not possible (e.g. work presentations, confidential phone calls, etc...), I am granted extra time, since with a severe stutter I take much longer to say the same amount of words. Just goes to show how important it is for stuttering to be classified as a disability, since without legal protections, I may not have been granted these accommodations that are necessary to enable me to perform my job on the same playing field as the rest of my team.
