Yes. The speech therapy that I received as a child was trash. It was mostly about enunciation. It did nothing about blocks. I eventually went to speech therapy as an adult and it had been life changing. It has not cured my stuttering but it has cured most of my shame concerning stuttering. I have techniques to deal with blocks, I've learned to stop avoiding certain sounds, I've done homework to work on my most feared speaking scenarios (calling on the phone, job interviews, ordering at a restaurant, etc.). I used to have a ton of tension when talking, which was the effect of pushing through speech blocks. I can now talk in stressful situations without feeling that painful tension. My entire life has changed. I am regret not going sooner. My speech pathologist has a ton of credentials, she was much different than the underpaid and underqualified speech therapists at my elementary school.
