For me, i hate to bring it up myself and I can get very defensive when asked. But secretly I wish I could talk to someone about it and be open about it and talk about it. Out of all the times someone has brought it up, 4 times to be exact: 2 times I have denied there was a problem, and 2 times I have just bared my soul and really shared my deepest fears. It really depends on the person. One of the two times where it was healing was when my husband, then boyfriend brought it up. I’m a little luckier because my stutter is mild. I can hide it very well, mostly it shows up when I am super upset or stressed.
