I remember my parents being in denial too. I’m older now and looking back I think they just didn’t know what to do. I went from being very outgoing and a very good speaker where I was the lead role in a couple plays to having a severe stutter almost overnight in 6th grade. I’m in my early 40s and have what I would call a very mild stutter now that probably isn’t even noticeable to most people.
