Oh, it definitely had. My whole mentality changed after a breakdown about stuttering in university, but it was a long road to get over it from there. As I said, I can't say what's best for anyone else, and I don't think there's one road to get anywhere in life. All I can do is relay my experiences and thoughts. In my opinion, from everything I've experienced and learned about the world through human action and incentives, coddling hurts people and the do-gooders often create victims and unintentionally hold people down. I know I'm in the minority but I don't go for the whole "woe is you, poor stutterer, you are less than a regular human, so we will not require you to do the things a regular human can do." I think do-gooders get off on these sort of thoughts, and in a twisted way it's a selfish act of stroking their own morality, even if they don't consciously recognize that. There's a rant of more than you asked for! :p
