My tips and tricks. They don't work every time but I find them helpful if I'm really stuck. * tapping technique - I tap a rhythm with one of my fingers while speaking and my syllables follow the beats * when I'm really stuck, I just stop speaking and don't try to force the word out by biting my tongue and mouth. I take a couple of deep breaths and try to relax my shoulders or wherever I feel the tension in my body then I try again. I know this is not ideal when you talk to someone on the phone but you can always ask the other person to wait a minute * I pretend in my head that I'm singing. Maybe people can also hear it in my speech but I don't care because at least I can get the words out right. * I make myself believe that I don't want to say the whole word but just the first syllable. Eg. one of my dreaded words is "criticism". So I tell my brain "Don't panic, all I want to say is "cri". But when I get the first syllable out then I can say the whole word. Sometimes it works and then I laugh at my brain and sometimes my brain shows me the middle finger and blocks my airflow completely. We have a love/hate relationship.
