I have worked for Sonic drive in for almost a year (come May 17th it will be a year 🙂) and it has helped me with my stutter enormously. When I started there I was very hesitant in taking orders or carhopping them out. I strictly made drinks and bagged orders. I was too scared to even deal with drive thru. It took some TLC to get me to face my stuttering and start talking to customers. It took a bit but my coworkers and managers were incredible with me and helped me when I needed it. I am not going to tell you working fast food is a cure all but it helps you so much. I talk to my customers a lot at this job and many of them have helped me with my self-esteem with my bad stutter. This job was a life changer. I started out as a hesitant, scared person who some people even believed to be mute. That was how quiet I was with my stutter. Almost a year into this job I have not felt more confident with my voice since I was fluent. This all being said try switching from a traditional server in a dine in restaurant to a fast food place like Sonic. Message me if u want but it is worth a shot.
