I actually run a biz that does phone systems for other businesses.. As such I'm on the phone all day. It's not uncommon for me to hit 100-150 phone calls per day. It's like everything else in you life. It's a muscle that gets stronger if you work it, and the work itself gets easier. But you have to work it constantly, and consistently. You also have to think about it, and set yourself up for success. Focus on breathing, is it easier to talk if you're standing? Sitting? Am I really nervous because of the stuttering, or because I'm about to talk to an angry client? How do I manage that? Can I improve my state before the call? Can I develop a few tools to change my state before the call. So you're in the call and you start to stutter? Just ask yourself.. Did I die? If the answer is no then decide how to deal with it (And have your tools ready to go and prepped). If I can find another word I go with it and keep rolling. If I can't find another word I stop and tell 'em I've got a stutter. Force it the word out, and keep moving. You can do this! It' won't be easy. But here's the thing. Getting stronger is NEVER easy. But what else are we going to do? Sit on the couch and watch Netflix all day? Please feel free to hit me up and I'll help however I can.
