Teeth/gum issues due to stuttering? Hi! I’m a person who stutters who has a heavy “block” type of stutter - very few issues with repetitions, but instead quenching my jaw when I start words. Due to this my mouth is often sore, especially after a busy day. My stutter feels as if I’m grinding and clamming down on my teeth very hard at times. Due to this, I’m often worried about my dental health. It’s very frustrating. I recently had gum replacement surgery bc my gums had receded too far back in my mouth. The dentist will tell me it’s due to grinding my teeth as I sleep. I have tried to explain that I believe that is not the case - it’s from my stutter. They say no, that can’t be it. I’m just wondering if anyone else has had same experience? Thoughts? Thanks.
