Mine has gotten better as I've aged, I would definitely say that now it is mild. However, I honestly, truly believe that a lot of that is because on two reasons: 1) I am surrounded by family, friends and coworkers who just do not care. Seriously, they don't. 2) When I started finding a lot of people who don't care, I stopped caring too. It is part of who I am, and it has molded me in a way, but I refuse to let my stutter **be** me. I know that sounds like some wacky Shia Labeouf JUST DO IT crap, but in a way it is mind over matter. In software engineering, there is rarely, if ever, a situation where you not being able to stop, rephrase, or rethink you position is going to cost anyone their life or their job or anything. Take all of the time you need to use your tools to say what you need to say. If your coworkers are not assholes, they will wait. They will wait because they understand your condition and value what you have to say. If they do not value you or run you over verbally, leave. Find a job where you work with good people, not wangrods. I should note that I have *never* run into this situation, but that is how I would react if I ever did.
