So in order to be a fighter pilot you have to commission. When you join the Air Force or any branch with no rank it’s called enlisting but when you commission you will be joining as a 2nd Lt.— an officer rank. This is quite a high rank and you will be in charge of leading enlisted men. In order to commission you have 2 options. You can either be in ROTC for 4 years at a college and graduate which is what I’m doing or you can complete college first and apply for OTS (officer training school) and spend a few months there training. OTS is incredibly competitive to get into however and really isn’t a realistic goal.
