How I find Confidence

How I find Confidence As a stutterer, I find it hard to find the confidence in myself to speak up for myself, and others. I go to a local gun range to shoot trap once a week. This particular day we had some new shooters on the range. I wanting to talk to them and meet them so badly but I don’t have the confidence in myself to do it. I just sat quietly on the bench reflecting on why I don’t have confidence. Eventually, one of the new shooters came up to me and asked “What’s your name young man?” “Cllll … Cll,” I tried to reply. I gained to courage to say to the guy “Sorry, I have a speech impediment and it’s hard sometimes.” “Oh that’s fine bud no judgment here,” he calmly replied. “So … What is your name?” He asked again. “It’s Clayton, pleasure to meet you,” I said. It rolled right off my tongue. After that, I hardly stuttered at all the whole time. I found that just fessing up to your problem instead of treating as a burden and hiding it away helps. I was nervous but on the end it payed off. Hope someone can take something away from this. Thanks.
