I made a video a few months ago with a girl I dated about this subject. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yAXkkYakGnE At the end of the day, self-confidence will come from acceptance of yourself and then pride in who you are. Took me a long time to go from "chip on my shoulder" (although it was more like the world on my shoulders) with the stutter to accepting it and then becoming proud of myself for other reasons, such as professional development.
